Happy Monday!

I’m not sure about anyone else, but last week wasn’t a great week.  That being said, it is nice not to be bombarded by political ads and rhetoric of an election year.  But you know what?  No matter who is in Washington DC, GOD is still on the throne!  Yesterday, today, tomorrow and for all eternity, God is on the throne!

8 God reigns over the nations;

God is seated on his holy throne.

9 The nobles of the nations assemble

as the people of the God of Abraham,

for the kings c of the earth belong to God;

he is greatly exalted.  Psalm 47:8-9

God is on the throne, He is in control!  I have to remind myself that my goal is to be more Christlike, to have the mind of Jesus, not just in an election year, but every single day.  If we know more about politics than we do about God and His church, we are studying the wrong thing.

Think about the values and the priorities of Jesus versus those of politics. Politics compete with the Kingdom of God.  All politics are temporary.  The Kingdom of God, His church (don’t mistake this for denominational) is eternal.  It will last forever!  God is on the throne!

 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2

What we desperately need to hear is not from politicians but the word of God.  Guided by grace, we need to transform our minds to see, and accept, His perfect will.  That doesn’t sound so difficult, right?  The truth is, until we learn and accept His perfect will, how are we able to make better decisions?  It’s only when we can do that, that we can decide what GOD wants us to do (no, He didn’t ask our advice) and the tension in our lives goes down.  He is so much better at taking care of things than us and the weight on our shoulders gets really heavy if we can’t give it to Him.  God is on the throne!

For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,
declares the Lord.
As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
  Isaiah 55:8-9

Politicians say they will solve all of your problems and save the world.  Jesus says only He can save you!

 God is on the throne.  That’s pretty clear.  Politics are the force that drives the world.  The people have become dependent on government, instead of God.  But in the Word, Jesus tells us His church matters more than anything else.  He loves His church (us) more than anything and if we are going to be effective, we have to love the church like Jesus.

God is on the throne!  Hallelujah!

 Pray Unceasingly!!
