Everything we have belongs to God, We are His stewards.
Stewardship is taught by Jesus in so many ways. We are to “render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s” (Matthew 22:21 KJV). When asked for the temple money he sent Peter out to get the necessary money in an unusual way (from the first fish he caught Mat 17:24-27) nevertheless He paid the tribute or tax.
He explained that the poor widow gave more than all the rest, (Luke 21:1-4).
In the parable of the talents there were two stewards that were faithful and Jesus proclaimed “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord” (Matthew 25:21 KJV).
Everything belongs to God. Abraham had this realization when he offered up Isaac upon the altar. Even his son was God’s. When we come to this deep realization we feel blessed to have anything and are willing to let God direct us in all aspects of stewardship.
In Christ,
Greg
