Holiness

God said we are to be holy as He is Holy, But, But, but; I am just flesh and blood. I have a sin nature. God has given us His word and through His word we can become more holy each day. Do you believe God’s word? “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;” (Philippians 1:6 NKJV). God works through His word to chip away our sin nature. Sometimes like an ice pick, sometimes like a hammer. “Is not My word like a fire?” says the LORD, “And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?” (Jeremiah 23:29 NKJV). But if we refuse to listen sometimes God will use a jack hammer. Now that would hurt.
It is only through the atonement of Jesus Christ our Saviour in which God works through us to put us back into perfect union with Himself, without a shadow of sin between, and to walk in holiness. It takes practice and we have a part in it. “Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God” (2 Corinthians 7:1 NKJV). Christ is counting on you to be the light in this world, to be an example to others through a holy lifestyle, and attract them through that lifestyle so they can be reconciled back to Him. Go ye therefore and be holy as God is Holy and become that magnetic force through a holy lifestyle for Christ’s sake and the lost souls in your presence.
In Christ,
Greg
