RMS Value

What is your RMS value in the Kingdom of God? RMS is the Root-Mean-Square and it refers to the most common mathematical method of defining the effective voltage or current of an AC wave.

Okay, you may be saying what does that have to do with me or Christianity? It is a reflection of our Christian walk. Some Christians often find themselves in the valley never raising above the trenches. Others try and stay on mountain top experiences. Both of these examples end up experiencing the opposite up or downside in a very dramatic way for a brief moment and crash one way or another. Their RMS value is usually too high (no earthly good because they are to heavenly minded) or to low (stuck in the mud and grime of day to day living, no spiritual good). So how can we bring our RMS value up to be of good use in both the spiritual and natural realms?

The definition says the effective voltage or current of an AC wave.

The dotted line represents the RMS value. It is not a mountain top experience and not a valley experience either. But I think it is the most effective path to walk in. How do we stay effective for God’s Kingdom? We must recognize the source in electricity it is the voltage or current from a wall socket in your house for example. For Christians it is the Holy Spirit. We need to stay plugged in to the Holy Spirit.

When we take time and spend that time in God’s Word, prayer, worship services, Bible studies and with other Christians we are staying plugged in. We will be ready to give a defense of the hope of God abiding in us effectively.

Stay plugged in get out of the valley and mountain top mentality and stay plugged into the Holy Spirit. Find your peak RMS value so when you have to go into the valley to pick someone up you won’t get stuck in the mud. Conversely when you have a mountain top experience you won’t fall too far from the level you were at and feel as if you are in the valley of despair.

But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. (Ephesians 4:15, 16 KJV)

Then God will supply us with the spiritual power to effectively work and edify the church in love.

Stay plugged in and walk effectively in the true RMS value.

In Christ,

Greg
