The Threshold.
Are you living in the threshold?
What do you mean? The threshold is a strip of wood, metal, or stone forming the bottom of a doorway and crossed in entering a house or room. So to live in the threshold is to be standing in the doorway. You are not really outside yet you are not really inside. Some Christians receive Jesus Christ as their Saviour yet never change their lifestyle. They stand on the strip of wood or metal expecting to live a new victorious life in God’s Kingdom. It is like walking on the fence. Not letting go of the world and not fully accepting their new life.
And this is life eternal, that they should know thee the only true God, and him whom thou didst send, even Jesus Christ. (John 17:3 ASV)
How can you know someone if you never cross the threshold? The King is saying to you, come in and sup with me. He has invited you to have fellowship with Him, yet you stand on the threshold missing the joy of the Lord.
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full. (John 15:11 ASV)
Jesus had joy as He did His Father’s will. O what joy Divine!
I remember feeling the joy of the Lord when I was once asked to mentor a new Christian, I thought wow me Lord. What a privilege. The joy of the Lord entered into me because God was calling me into Kingdom work. I was crossing the threshold to sup and have fellowship with God and a new believer in Christ. God was giving me an opportunity to understand Him and eternal life. O!
What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
Leaning on the Everlasting Arms!
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
Leaning on the Everlasting Arms!
Leaning, leaning,
Safe and secure from all alarms;
Leaning, leaning,
Leaning on the Everlasting Arms.
O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,
Leaning on the Everlasting Arms!
O how bright the path grows from day to day,
Leaning on the Everlasting Arms!
What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
Leaning on the Everlasting Arms!
I have peace complete with my Lord so near,
Leaning on the Everlasting Arms!
Won’t you cross the threshold today and lean on His everlasting arms? God will empower you to do His work [1 Timothy 1:12] and you will experience His joy. O, what a privilege so divine.
In Christ,
Greg
